How your financial data is connected, accessed, and handled. We describe our approach in plain language and avoid overstated security claims.

How accounts connect
We connect to your financial institutions through Plaid, a third-party account-aggregation service. When you link an account, you authenticate with your institution through Plaid — your bank login credentials are entered with Plaid and are not seen or stored by Simplified My Wealth.
What we access
Connections are read-only. We request account balances, holdings, investment transactions, and (where you choose the mortgage flow) liability details. We cannot move money, place trades, or make changes to your accounts.
Access tokens
To keep your data current, Plaid issues an access token for each connected institution. These tokens are stored server-side and are never exposed to your browser or included in data exports. We do not claim to be a zero-knowledge system: the tokens required to refresh your data are retained on our servers for as long as the connection is active.
Data isolation
Your data is scoped to your account. Access is enforced at the database level so that one user cannot read or modify another user's records. Demo Mode data, manually entered values, and Plaid-sourced data are kept separate.
Disconnecting
You can disconnect an institution at any time from Accounts or Settings. Disconnecting removes that institution's access token and synced data from Simplified My Wealth and instructs Plaid to remove the connection. It does not close or change your underlying financial account.
Your responsibilities
Keep your login credentials confidential and sign out on shared devices. Because this product is in beta, please verify important figures with your institution before relying on them.
